Why MELT?

  • reduce pain

  • improve balance

  • enhance stability, mobility and performance

  • practice on your own with ease

Whether you spend your day at a desk, run 10 miles everyday, have suffered injuries or do any kind of repetitive movements, you likely have stuck stress in your body. Stuck stress is a MELT term for areas of dehydrated connective tissue, or fascia. MELT is a self treatment technique using balls and a soft roller that rehydrates the fascia and balances the nervous system. Why is that important?

Fascia is a fluid based 3D network of connective tissue that surrounds and holds every bone, muscle, blood vessel, organ and nerve fiber in place. Healthy fascia is slippery and elastic supporting upright stability in the body but injury, stress, repetitive movements and just daily living can create areas of dehydrated or sticky tissue, stuck stress. Stuck stress can inhibit mobility, cause compression and compensation and eventually lead to pain. MELT’s specific techniques help move stuck stress and restore fascia’s supportive qualities.

The MELT moves that address the nervous system help us with balance and stability. They also bring equilibrium to the fight or flight and rest and restore parts of the autonomic nervous system.

Regular MELT sessions have improved my balance, flexibility and even my sleep — not to mention relief from age-related aches and pains.

Small group classes 2-3 people

Grab a friend or two and schedule a class or series of classes based on your own needs or interests.

I have taught intro classes for beginners, a ski prep and recovery class to a group who skis together weekly all winter and a class on hand treatments to professional musicians/music teachers.

I also teach on-going private classes for people who want to build on what they learn to be able to do more advanced moves as they progress. In a small class setting I am more able to tailor the class to the participants and give personal attention.

One on One Sessions

In a one on one session I work with the client to create a MELT map (a series of moves and sequences) that is particular to their needs.

These clients are people who are looking to get out of pain or who are trying to prevent pain from occurring. We can work together in a series of sessions, perfecting MELT moves and refining your map or I can set you up with a map you can do at home.

Together we can get you more comfortable in your body, finding greater mobility and stability.
