When we release tension and restore flow we open to a sense of vitality, a sense of connection to our bodies and the silent presence beyond the body.

Quantum Shiatsu is an acupressure style massage that gives you a deep sense of relaxation and reconnects you to your essential self. It has its roots in Asian therapies and is done on a massage table through clothing.

Shiatsu is a Japanese form of bodywork that stems from Japanese massage and Chinese Medicine Theory. The guiding philosophy is that there exists a vital energy (ki in Japanese, chi in Chinese) that pervades all things and runs through channels in our bodies called meridians. Shiatsu applies moderate pressure to points along the meridians in order to bring the ki into balance.

Quantum differs from other styles of Shiatsu in that it also intends to raise the vibration of the ki, creating space in the body and activating the layers of energy beyond the physical body. There is some off-the-body work interspersed in a mainly touch centered session. Quantum Shiatsu was created by Pauline Sasaki in the early 90’s as a response to the changing energies of the planet. This evolution from her original form of Zen Shiatsu was intended to help people adjust to faster and sometimes disruptive energies. While the unseen world of ki may sound mysterious, the feeling of relaxation and well being after a Shiatsu session is very concrete.

The sense I have after a session with Yana is unlike any other bodywork I’ve done. I am so relaxed that I feel as though there should be an advisory to not operate heavy equipment afterwards. It feels as if my nervous system, my energy and my Being has been reset to a state of calm and integration.
